A Message from Msgr. Richard
Retiring on July 1st after having served for 25 years as pastor of St. John the Evangelist parish in Bergenfield, I never expected to be called back into official service as temporary administrator here at St. Francis of Assisi, but here I am. Unfortunately, it will only be part-time, since I had already made a weekend commitment to St. Pius X parish in Forked River, not far from my retirement home.
I started on October 11th here, and I am working weekdays with Fr. Bart and the parish staff, all of whom I have found to be fully dedicated to the well-being of the parish. Should any of you wish to speak with me, please call the parish office to make an appointment, or email me at MsgrRJA@aol.com.
Please be assured that I will do everything in my power to keep this parish moving forward until a new pastor is named. In the meantime, let us continue to pray for one another!
Msgr. Richard Arnhols
Temporary Administrator
Dear Parishioners,
Cinco de Mayo (Fifth of May) celebrations take on many different forms, but for us Catholics the month of May is (the Blessed Virgin) Mary’s month, which also includes Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, and First Holy Communions.
Our Faith Formation children and teachers will participate in our annual May Crowning at the11:30am Mass today. May 13th is the feast of Our Lady of Fatima, May 20th Mary, Mother of the Church, and May 31st Mary’s Visitation. On May 26, Trinity Sunday, the Ecuadorian members of our Spanish Community will observe the celebration of Our Lady of the Clouds.
Also, all the dioceses of New Jersey have permanently moved the observance of the Ascension of our Lord from the Thursday 40 days after Easter to what would otherwise be the seventh Sunday of Easter, which is next Sunday. Please include Ascension Day envelopes with your regular Sunday envelopes in next week’s first collection. The second collection will be the monthly Energy Collection.
Msgr. Richard Arnhols –
Temporary Administrator
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
ALL ARE WELCOME IN THIS PLACE
